Hampta Pass trek in, Manali – Himachal Pradesh
On the Pir Panjal range in the Himalayas, Hampta Pass is located at an elevation of 4270 metres (14039 feet). It is a narrow corridor that connects Lahaul’s Chandra Valley and Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu Valley. The trek’s name comes from Hampta Village, which is located below Sethan village and is part of the trek route. Shepherds from the lower Himalayas frequent this pass in the summer, when the dry, cold desert of Lahaul is desolate, in search of high altitude grasses.
What is special about Hampta Pass trek?
A variety of wildflowers and herbs can be found at elevations ranging from 3000 to 3800 metres. The primary features of this journey are vertical rock walls, waterfalls, hanging glaciers, pinewoods, rhododendron forests, wide meadows, little lakes, and peaks soaring above 6000 metres. The walk begins in the lush Kullu valley and continues into the dry Lahaul region through Hampta Pass.
Climbers will cross glaciers, fast-flowing rivers, and difficult terrain on this journey, which is recommended for fit beginners. Trekkers can continue their journey beyond Hamta Pass to the lovely Chandrataal Lake.
Manali, in Himachal Pradesh, is the closest major city. The majority of itineraries include transportation from Manali to Jobri, the starting point for the trip. The trek takes 3–4 days to complete, depending on the itinerary. Some of the stops are made naturally at Chika, Balu ka Gera, Chatru, and other locations.
How to Reach Hampta, Manali:
By Road:Manali is well connected to Delhi. Take an overnight bus from Delhi and you will reach Manali in 12 ‐ 14 hours (approx 540 km).
By Train:The nearest Railway station is Joginder Nagar railway station 163 km from Manali.
By Air:The nearest Airport is Kullu Manali Airport in Bhuntar is 50 Kms. Taxi services are available from Bhuntar to Manali, which costs about Rs.700‐ Rs.1,000.
